چکیده

A total of 35 crossbred goats were used to evaluate the effect of oFSH dosages on ovarian responses during superovulation. CIDR was inserted for 10-15 days and were divided into 3 groups, namely Groups M,, M2 and S receiving 8.8 mg and 14.08 mg of oFSH through multiple intramuscular (i.m.) injection starting from 2 days before the CIDR removal and 8.8 mg of oFSH through single i.m. injection upon CIDR removal, respectively. Ovarian responses of all treatments were evaluated during laparotomy session on days 3 or 7 after CIDR removal. All the does (100%, 22/22) of Group Ml and M2 responded to the treatments by ovulating at least 1 corpus luteum (CL). On the other hand, only 69% (9/13) of the does of Group S was responded correspodingly to the treatment. The total ovarian responses (CL plus anovulatory follicles) among the treatments were significantly (P<0.05) higher in multiple administration groups (Groups Ml and M2) than the single administration group (Group S). Although no significant (P>0.05) differences were found between multiple administration groups for ovarian responses, high dosage of oFSH gave higher percent ovulation and CL per doe (72.4% ± 7.6vs. 58.8% ± 3.9and 16.9 ± 3.9vs. 11.6 ± 1.0, respectively) compared to low dosage. The anovulatory percentage of follicles was significantly (P<0.05) higher in Group S followed by Groups M, and M2. The structure (embryo plus oocyte) recovery rate per doe was significantly (P<0.05) higher in Group M2 followed by Group Ml and lowest in Group S (5.4 ± 2.4, 3.2 ± 1.2 and 0.5 ± 0.5, respectively). It is concluded that multiple injection at high dosage of oFSH in goat superovulation protocol gives better ovarian responses than multiple injection at low dosage as well as single injection of oFSH. However, more detailed research is needed to optimise the amount of gonadotrophin for superovulation of Malaysian crossbred goats.

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) Dosage Based on Body Weight Enhances Ovulatory Responses and Subsequent Embryo Production in Goats

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of porcine follicle stimulating hormone (pFSH) dosage based on body weight (BW) on ovarian responses of crossbred does. Thirty donor does were divided into 3 groups getting pFSH dosages of 3, 5, and 8 mg pFSH per kg BW, respectively, and were named as pFSH-3, pFSH-5 and pFSH-8, respectively. Estrus was synchronized by inserting a controlled i...

The association of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in growth hormone (GH) gene with litter size and superovulation response in goat-breeds

Two active mutations (A 781 G and A 1575 G) in growth hormone (GH) gene, and their associations with litter size (LS), were investigated in both a high prolificacy (Matou, n = 182) and a low prolificacy breed (Boer, n = 352) by using the PCR-RFLP method. Superovulation experiments were designed in 57 dams, in order to evaluate the effect of different genotypes of the GH gene on superovulation r...

Factors Affecting Superovulation and Embryo Transfer in Boer Goats*

Despite many studies, results of superovulation protocols are not consistent in farm animals. In this study, 151 Boer goats were superovulated to examine the factors affecting superovulation and embryo transfer (MOET). An optimal regime for superovulation treatment was identified as a 4-day treatment with decreasing dosages of 6-7 mg Chinese FSH or 240 mg Canadian FSH. The 4-day treatment with ...

Follicle-stimulating hormone signal transduction: role of carbohydrate in aromatase induction in immature rat Sertoli cells.

Receptor activated adenylate cyclase acts as a major transmembrane signalling system. It is widely accepted that upon binding to its receptor, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) activates the cAMP-dependent pathway which in turn mediates FSH-induced estradiol production in Sertoli cells. Studies utilizing several chemically derived variants of FSH have demonstrated that these variants bind to t...

Genetic influences on reproduction of female red deer (Cervus elaphus) (2) seasonal and genetic effects on the superovulatory response to exogenous FSH.

This study evaluated the influences of seasons and genotype on the superovulatory response to a standardised oFSH regimen in red deer (Cervus elaphus scoticus) and its hybrids with either wapiti (C.e. nelsoni) or Père David's (PD) deer (Elaphurus davidianus). Adult red deer (n=9), F(1) hybrid wapiti x red deer (n=6), and maternal backcross hybrid PD x red deer (i.e., 14 PD hybrid; n=9) were kep...
